Winners Announced!

Hi everyone,    We are very excited to announce the winners for the Google Developer Student Club @ UVA's Solution Challenge! This year we brought in a panel of esteemed judges from companies including Meta, Fidelity, and JPMorgan Chase & Co to review project submissions that worked toward solving a problem that exists in the local Charlottesville community and aligned with the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. After much deliberation, we are excited to announce the winners:   In First Place, we have GreenThreads, a fantastic project that "analyzes user-inputted links from fast fashion brands to provide eco-friendly shopping suggestions, offering alternatives that help reduce carbon footprints and save money."   In Second Place, we had a tie between two awesome projects, Water Pal, and Flora Finder. Water Pal "provides an intuitive interface for individuals to track their water intake over the course of the day, helping them stay on track to drink a reasonable amount of water and maintain good health." Flora Finder "enables users to search for and discover the unique flora of their region."   We would also like a give a special thank you to Alexandra Rodriquez and Taylor Walker at CoStar for providing us with funding for the competition!   The judges and the GDSC team were all very impressed by the quality of submissions and their focus on the UN Sustainable Development goals in Charlottesville. Thank you to all participants who submitted projects, and we look forward to hosting similar competitions going forward!   Sincerely, Alexander Halpern UVA Engineering Class of 2026 | GDSC President GDSC Website: https://uvagdsc.com/
